We had lots of music, fun, and sunshine for Community Day, which was held on June 2nd.
The day is an annual celebration of the work that we do and even more, of our vibrant community and its members. But this year East Side House had something even bigger to celebrate: our 125th Anniversary.
To bring out the most genuine ESH feel, the day came in the form of a block party, complete with the street roped off in front of our headquarters, where we’ve existed since 1963. Staff decorated the wall adjacent to it with a 20-foot long photographic timeline, complete with dozens of photos, of our programs, participants, and community throughout the years. Our guests enjoyed a live DJ, music and dance performances by our students, face painting, cotton candy, and games.
The day showcased where we came from, where we are, and maybe most important, dreams and aspirations of what we can achieve as a community.
