East Side House Helps Hunger with #HashtagLunchbag

Did you know the Bronx is the hungriest borough?
A recent study released by Hunger Free America determined one in three of Bronx residents lived in food insecure households in 2013-2015, making it the highest of the 5 boroughs.

In just a few weeks, East Side House will do its part to help the critical issue of hunger by joining on to a national movement called #HashtagLunchbag. The holidays are an especially challenging time for people who are food insecure, and this effort is all about making a difference.

ESH’s Social Service Department has been carefully planning and organizing a community lunch giveaway for November 17th.  A team of volunteers will prepare and distribute nearly 500 lunches to people in need in our community.

The lunch distribution will be held at Mott Haven Community Center at 375 143rd Street, Bronx, NY 10454 from 1-3pm on November 17.

“Seeing the enthusiasm from everyone so far in our planning has been exciting. It’s going to be really special and hopefully something we can continue to do in the future,” said Kimberly Lindo, an ESH Social Worker who is heading up this effort.
