Assistant Internship Program Coordinator

Program: College Preparation Leadership Program
Location: Mott Haven Village Prep High School

Position Description: Under the direct supervision of the School Principal, Program Director and the Internship Coordinator, the Assistant will be responsible for assisting in the development and implementation of the Career Education and Internship Program curriculum for high school students. In addition to coordination and implementation of the Student/Program’s newsletter

Specific duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Assisting with the delivery of weekly introductory career and self-awareness workshops to ninth graders;
  • Assisting with the development and delivery of weekly career exploration workshops to tenth graders;
  • identifying, recruiting, nurturing and supervising career oriented and community service internship opportunities for high school juniors and seniors;
  • work in cooperation with teachers and school dministration to ensure material and curriculum is consistent with established learning standards and expectations;
  • conduct one-on-one as well as small group counseling sessions with students addressing career and educational interests and concerns;
  • assist in planning and chaperoning trips and activities including an annual week-long college tour;
  • oversee the implementation of the Student/Programs’ newsletter
  • other duties as may be requested by the Internship Program Coordinator, Program Director and Principal.



Salary: $30,000 per annum

Education, Experience and Skills Requirements include:

  • High School Diploma required. Some College preferred.
  • Minimum of 1-3 years experience with a not-for-profit and/or school setting.
  • Experience working with teenagers.
  • Ability to work with a culturally diverse population.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Publisher & Power Point
  • Strong verbal, written communication skills, presentation and leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated initiative, creativity, flexibility and follow-through with excellent organizational skills.
  • Previous writing experience with a school newsletter or other literary publication.
