Program: College Preparation and Leadership Program
Location: Mott Haven Village Preparatory High School, 701 St. Ann’s Avenue, Bronx, NY


General Overview: Under the supervision of the Assistant Executive Director of Programs, the Program Director will be responsible for the program operations on a daily basis. Until July 1, 2010, this position will be part time (30 hrs per week). After July 1, 2010 this position will be a full time salaried position.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Areas of responsibility include, but are not limited to:
• Work collaboratively with Principal, classroom teachers, designated support staff in implementing and integrating a College Preparation and Leadership Program that meet the needs of the students and families including all of its components (educational counseling/college preparation, scholarship program, student internships, peer education, after-school activities, parent involvement, and special events)
• Provide leadership, supervise, evaluate staff, and adhere to personnel policies and procedures. Conduct staff meetings and arrange for staff development.
• Oversee the coordination and supervision of all local and out-of-state day and overnight educational and recreational trips (including all college trips).
• Establish and maintain reporting systems such as student record keeping, i.e. attendance, progress notes, narrative and expense reports, program assessment. Complete internal agency reports and external funding source reports.
• Maintain an awareness of individual needs of students in an array of areas that include attendance, education, social development, and family involvement in order to adapt the program to meet those needs in consultation with the Assistant Executive Director, Principal, or other designated staff.
• Maintain and manage collaborative partnerships.
• Present program’s progress to the Board of Directors and assist in program preparations for Board Meetings.
• Attend agency/school and other meetings, program trainings, and staff development.
• Meet regularly with Assistant Executive Director and school Principal to communicate program updates, enhancements and/or challenges in order to receive feedback.

Education/Experience:
• At least two years supervisory experience and demonstrated leadership skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills and time management skills.
• B.A. in education, human services, public administration or related field with minimum of three years youth-related work.
• Excellent verbal, analytical, writing, communication, organizational skills.
• Strong presentation skills and the ability to represent the organization.
• Ability to work in a team-oriented environment and multi-tasks.
• Demonstrated knowledge of community service/ development.
• Computer literate, ability to use DYCD online preferred.


Salary: $45,000
