LOCATION: 372 East 152nd Street, Bronx, NY 10455


DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

Under the direct supervision of the Deputy Director of Community Based Programs, the Director of Senior Programs will direct the day-to-day operation of the program, including fiscal management, supervision and staff development, provision of services, record keeping, and reports to East Side House and N.Y.C. Dept. for the Aging (DFTA). Specific duties include but are not limited to:

  • Supervision of the senior center staff and provide direction with administrative and practical aspects of their work (e.g., scheduling, case assistance, intake process, interviewing, etc.), and special service activities.
  • Oversee program staff through weekly supervision and periodical evaluation of staff and support staff to ensure program enhancements, development, commonalities and uniqueness in all sites.
  • Design and implement procedures for case findings, case assessment, and case management.
  • Disseminate updated information to staff regarding changes in the policies and procedures affecting rights and entitlements.
  • Provide direct services to clients, including crisis intervention and may include counseling, when necessary.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with other community agencies to meet community needs and improve service delivery.
  • Coordinate with Deputy Director in the selection and termination of staff.
  • In collaboration with Deputy Director, conduct on-going evaluation of service delivery.
  • Participate with the agency in evaluation of the program in policy development.
  • Direct and/or coordinate fund-raising and public relations activities for senior sites.



QUALIFICATIONS: Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, Gerontology or Nursing and two years of human services experience with at least two year in a supervisory or administrative position, preferably in the field of aging; or Baccalaureate degree in social services (BSW) and four years of social service experience, of which at least one year must have been in a supervisory or administrative position, preferably in the field of aging; or Baccalaureate in nursing (BSN) degree and four years experience, of which at least one year must have been in a supervisory or administrative position, preferably in the field of aging.
