Program: EAST SIDE HOUSE/HEAD START-DAY CARE PROGRAM

LOCATION:MHCC-375 East 143rd Street, Bronx, NY 10454

General Description:

Responsible for the day to day operations of the Family Services component in multiple centers, including creating and scheduling parent activities calendar and the supervision of the Social Service staff to ensure compliance with Head Start performance Standards and ACS regulations. Provide direction with administrative and practical aspects of service delivery (e.g. scheduling, process recording, intake process, interviewing, etc.) and special service activities; Ensure that Parent Committees are created and function as an integral part of the agency’s governance team.

  • Oversee and assist staff with appropriate referrals (e.g. individual, group, agency resources in the community)
  • Oversee and assist staff in planning and conducting meetings and other activities.
  • Oversee and assist staff in their role as resource persons to parent participation program.
  • Oversee and assist staff in reaching their potential in relation to all aspects of responsibilities.



Additional Responsibilities Include:

  • Oversee Social Service component through supervision and periodical evaluation of staff and support staff to ensure program enhancements, development, commonalities and uniqueness in all sites
  • Provide consultation with staff to help in identifying and intervening when child and/or family problems arise (social and interpersonal relationship problems, etc.)
  • Serve as practitioner by being available to interview parents presenting serious family problems for the purpose of clarifying the problem presented and motivating parents to follow-up on appropriate referrals as well as in following through in finalizing such referrals
  • In collaboration with the Program Director develop and coordinate on-going staff development training for all program staff
  • In cooperation with the Program Director provides information and prepares proposals for development and expansion of programs
  • Ensures staffing requirements are met, and assigns resources for special program support such as, social work student-interns and volunteers
  • On-time submission of all reports to agency and funding sources
  • Assist the agency’s Executive Director, Assistant Executive Director and Program Director by representing the agency at outside professional meetings; in developing community relations and outreach strategies, e.g. Community Building Project, Community Planning Board, Community School District, and Collaborative efforts
  • Support community residents, parents and program participants active involvement in agency community building efforts as well as complete tasks necessary to move these efforts forward including serving on community build committees as assigned by supervisor.



QUALIFICATIONS:
Master’s Degree in Social Work with a minimum three (3) years experience in a not-for-profit community based setting (clinical setting a plus). Experience in program management, implementation and demonstrated ability to develop goals and objectives. Strong communication and leadership skills are essential. Candidate must be computer literate and capable of hands-on work in Microsoft Word or similar word processing programs and have excellent verbal and written communication skills, including effective platform delivery. Bilingual strongly desired.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Physical examination to show the individual is free from all communicable diseases.



Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 9:00 – 5:00pm (Schedule may vary with parent activities)

Salary: $42,000 - 47,000
