Program Page: Family Services
This program is in the Social Services and Professional Development Department.
The focus of East Side House Settlement is education, for adults and children. But often things stand in the way of the educational goals you have for yourself, your children or a love one. How can you or your children go to school or work and concentrate if you are overwhelmed with many issues that may include; depression, homelessness, sickness, hunger or if you or a love one is struggling with substance abuse?
The Family Services Program will help you begin to remove the obstacles that get between you, your family and the education that could help you find a better job and healthier way of life. Educational success is contingent upon stable personal and family home life. To address this need and to support our educational programs, the Family Services Program is addressing these issues by ensuring that each family member participates in an agency program and by securing additional services for family members as needed. Community Center Directors refer families to the case manager who in turn reach out to the student and his/her parent or guardian. An initial interview with the family will determine the family’s willingness to accept help and a plan of intervention. Possible intervention includes the referral of other family members not served by ESH to appropriate ESH programs, and referral to programs outside of ESH.
