Title: Functional Family Therapy Specialist
Program: Family Services Program
Location: 337 Alexander Avenue
General:
Under the supervision of the Deputy Director of Social Services, the Functional Family Therapy Specialist (FFTS), functioning as a collaborative member of a team, will provide individual and family counseling to participants. The FFTS will provide the case management services necessary to provide satisfactory solution to the challenges and issues faced by the student and other family members.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Assess and determine intervention(s) needed for individual and family members. (Assessments will include a home visit.)
- Implement interventions. The FFT family counseling will be complemented by referrals, home visits, advocacy visits, case management, crisis intervention, conflict resolution, and parenting skills workshops.
- Provide referrals for student and student’s family. Follow up on referrals to determine outcomes and help resolve barriers.
- Work with participants’ teachers to better know clients’ needs and progress and to coordinate implementation of intervention plan.
- Actively participate in team and program meetings. Provide suggestions for program improvement and implementation.
- Complete all program documentation and maintain confidentiality of all program files on participant and other family members.
- Provide updates to Family Services Program Director on assigned students and families.
- Participate in assigned staff development trainings.
- Facilitate FSP workshops to parents/custodians.
- Enroll FSP participants in other East Side House programs
- Provide other program support functions as required.
- Other duties as requested.
Requirements: Bachelors’ Degree in Social Sciences or a Masters Degree. One year experience as a Functional Family Therapist and FFT certification. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a strong team orientation. Passion for work with youth. Basic word processing skills required. Spanish is a plus.
