Title: Grants Accountant

Program: Administration



The Grants Accountant is responsible for periodic reporting to government funders. Specific responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

•Reviews accounting codes and allocation of expenses for restricted contract funding
•Prepares monthly and quarterly financial reports to governmental agencies for expense reimbursement.
•Monitors the collection of government contract receivables
•Participates in status meetings with program managers to strategize on contract compliance issues
•Prepares budget modifications, coordinating with finance and program staff as necessary
•Conducts monthly analysis and reconciliations of contracts
•Assists in year-end contract close-outs
•Liaises with funders as necessary
•Assists in the preparation for periodic audits performed by governmental agencies and organization’s annual audit.
•Knowledge of A-133 audit requirements including the proper reporting of allowable and allocable expenses.
•Prepares account reconciliations related to program activity.
•Analyzes general ledger activity.\\ •Prepares adjusting, month-end and year-end closing journal entries.\\ •Works closely with Program Staff analyzing accounting treatment of funds and contract.
•Ad hoc requests from Executive Staff.


Qualifications and Requirements:

•Candidate must, at minimum, have a Bachelor’s Degree as well as two to three years of prior grant contract management and fund accounting experience.
•MSO skills required
•Familiarity with nonprofit general ledger software, MIP preferred a plus
•Ability to handle multiple tasks and deadlines
•Strong communication skills
