Position Title: Group Leaders

Location: Community Centers

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

Under the supervision of the Program Director, the Group Leader is expected to perform each essential duty of this position in a satisfactory manner. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and/or ability required. The Group Leader is responsible for implementing and monitoring the educational and recreational programs and activities. Areas of responsibility shall include but are not limited to the following:

•Organize and provide support and/or leadership for groups where the primary program emphasis is to encourage learning, make constructive use of leisure time, develop leadership skills, and enhance social development.
•Engage and assist participants with classroom assignments and projects.
•Maintain an awareness of individual needs of participants, consulting with center director, program coordinator ,skill developer, or other designated staff for guidance and/or referral.\\ •Supervise junior counselors, volunteers, and aides assigned to the group.
•Perform administrative record keeping, i.e.; attendance, health/emergency records, and other functions as assigned.
•Write and submit daily activity schedule, weekly narrative reports, and program assessment.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

• H.S. Diploma with at least two years of experience in community based organization setting with youth; college strongly preferred.
•Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to engage participants.

Work Schedule:

At the discretion of the supervisor, the Group Leader must: •Monday to Friday from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM or 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM
•Be able to maintain a flexible schedule during trips, special events, and activities as required.
