Position Title: Program Assistant (Part Time)
Program: East Side House After School Program
Location: MS 203 - 339 Morris Avenue, Bronx NY
General Overview:
The Program Assistant of the East Side House After School program at MS 203 will be responsible for assisting the Program Coordinator in carrying out the activities necessary to support, facilitate and coordinate the community building activities of East Side House Settlement. This includes working with internal agency groups as well as community partners. They will also be responsible for carrying out clerical and administrative tasks necessary for program success.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Under the supervision of the Program Coordinator, the Program Assistant, with latitude for independent judgment, will be responsible for, but not limited to the following:
- Coordinate and organize special events and activities as assigned.
- Represent East Side House Settlement Community Building with collaborative partners such as municipal officials, community based organizations, community advocacy groups, local churches and ethnic organizations in meetings, outreach contacts and agreed upon common projects as assigned.
- Conduct outreach and recruitment activities to identify parents and other community residents to participate in core program components.
- Complete administrative tasks such as maintaining calendar for programs, collecting and organizing information for qualitative and quantitative periodic reports, and assisting with insuring program compliance by monitoring assigned areas.
- Create newsletters, brochures, flyers, forms, press releases and other training materials utilizing the computer.
- Screen phone calls and take messages, make copies using photocopy machines, file program information and materials and other clerical tasks as assigned.
Education/ Experience:
- A.A (B.A. a plus) Experience in youth-related work.
- Excellent verbal, analytical, writing, communication, organizational skills.
- Strong presentation skills and the ability to represent the organization.
- Ability to work in a team-oriented environment and handle multi-tasks.
- Strong interpersonal skills and time management skills.
- Knowledge and experience in WordPerfect/ Microsoft Word and other applications.
- Bilingual a plus.
Salary:
- $12-$15/hr
Schedule:
- 20hrs/week
