Title: Student Support Alumni Coordinator
Program: College Preparation & Leadership Program (CPLP)
Location: Mott Haven Village Prep High School-701 St. Ann’s Avenue, Bronx, NY
Position Description: Under the direct supervision of the Program Director and School Principal, the Student Support Coordinator will work with the Guidance Counselor, Social workers, and CPLP staff to support students in supplemental programs, services, and to improve communication with Advisors on student progress.
Specific duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Facilitate workshops with the parent coordinator informing parents of the college preparation process
- Conduct one-on-one as well as small group sessions with students addressing concerns with meeting graduation requirements, completion of supplemental activities, and the college preparation process.
- Help celebrate and recognize student accomplishments.
- Build networking opportunity for alumni and student body in order to benefit all through maintenance of alumni website and coordination of bi-annual events.
- Prepare bi-monthly reports relating to alumni activity.
- Provide a record of all alumni transactions. Ensure that accurate educational and employment and information is available at all times with updated contact information. Additionally, report updates and details of alumni career lifestyle in order to benefit other alumni, current students, incoming prospective students and the school in general.
- Additional office and program duties as may be requested by Program Director and Principal
Education, Experience and Skills Required:
- Bachelor's degree in education, human services, or related field. Masters degree preferred.
- Minimum of 3-5 years experience with youth at risk and/or school setting
- Prior experience with counseling and/or groups
- Ability to work with a culturally diverse population
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, presentation and leadership skills
- Demonstrated initiative, creativity, flexibility and follow-through
In addition, the coordinator must demonstrate:
- Excellent analytical skills, i.e.; be able to analyze problems presented by work and find practical solutions that produce good results.
- Excellent skills in verbal and written communication, including effective platform delivery.
- The ability to develop goals and objectives.
- Strong communications and leadership skills are essential.
- Coordinator should be computer literate and capable of hands on work in Microsoft Word / Word Perfect or similar word processing programs.
Salary: $15 - $18 Per Hour / 25 Hours Per Week
