General Description:
Part-Time Microsoft Office Certification Instructor
Under the direct supervision of the Technology Director, this individual’s main responsibility will be for Microsoft Office Certification instruction for our adult evening program. The instructor will be required to teach classes in: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Access. As well as, work with the Director of Technology to develop lesson plans and strategies for our adult technology instructional program, which includes our YAES, senior citizen, and adult population.
Duties and responsibilities:
The Part-Time Microsoft Office Certification Instructor is responsible for supporting the efforts of the Community Technology Department in providing a positive learning environment for students in our adult computer technology classes. Areas of responsibility will include, but are not limited to:
- Providing instruction in Microsoft Office Certification. (MOS)
- Providing typing and keyboard instruction.
- Recording students’ assignments on files and monitoring the files for accuracy.
- Correcting students’ homework and preparing students to take the MOS tests.
- Working with the Departments Program Assistant in contacting students with poor attendance and submitting a follow-up report.
- Participating in staff development workshops.
- Presenting workshops to staff for in-service training.
- Participating in civic and community building efforts.
Education/Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED and at least two years of professional experience or College Degree (A.A./B.A./B.S.) and at least one year of professional experience.
- Candidate must have a Microsoft Office Specialist Master Instructor certificate for 2003 or Microsoft Office Specialist 2003 certification with the ability to pass Expert level test within 6 months of hire date. (see link below) http://www.certiport.com/Portal/desktopdefault.aspx?tabid=218
- Experience with graphic programs a plus.
- Experience working in young adult education programs a plus.
Work Schedule: Mon. - Fri. 4:00 – 8:00pm
Possible extra hours for Saturday instruction.
Salary: $25 – 40 per hour
Must be able to maintain a flexible schedule during training, special events, and activities as required.
