Position Title: Track & Field Coach

Location: After School Program located in the Bronx; Health Opportunities High School

Under the supervision of the Program Coordinator, the Activity Specialist: Track & Field Coach is expected to perform each essential duty of this position in a satisfactory manner. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and/or ability required.

Education/Experience:

  • Prior experience coaching boys & girls in track or cross country
  • At least one year of experience working with youth, experience with teenagers a big plus.
  • Associates degree, or High School Diploma with at least two years experience working with youth



Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ability to teach a boys & girls track team 3 afternoons per week
  • Responsible for leading groups of 15 students or more
  • Design lesson plans and activities for students; including planning events, speakers, or competitions
  • Monitor needs and strengths of individual children and consult with program coordinator for guidance and/or referral.
  • Organize and accompany children on local and out-of-town trips and activities.
  • Supervise volunteers, student interns and assigned aides to the group.
  • Perform administrative record keeping, i.e. attendance, emergency phone numbers, student sign out and other functions as assigned.
  • Support East Side House Community Development efforts by maintaining relationships with the parents of the children, informing them of opportunities for civic engagement and/or personal growth.
  • Attend staff meetings and professional development trainings.
  • Other duties as assigned.



Hours: 4-6 Hours per week. Hours generally 3:00 – 6:00 p.m.; this may be adjusted depending upon school dismissal time. There is the possibility of early days on Tuesday beginning at 1:00pm.

Salary: Dependent upon education and experience.
