School-Based Programs (Elementary)

East Side House’s program in partnering elementary schools operates with the philosophy that all students can learn and meet the educational standards of New York State. The programs, held after school, reinforce academic and social skills through the use of the arts, strategic games, computers, dance, sports and recreation.

The programming has four components: academic enrichment, with an emphasis on project-based learning; “homework help”; structured arts, recreation and leadership classes; and referrals to East Side House’s Social Services department for students and families in need of additional support.

Locations and Hours

East Side House’s after-school program is provided in the following partnering elementary schools at present:

  • PS 179, 468 E. 140th Street, Bronx, NY

The program runs Monday through Friday on the school calendar, from 3:00-6:00pm.
