On Thursday, April 13, 2017, East Side House Settlement hosted the 18th Annual Gala Preview of the 2017 New York International Auto Show at the Jacob K. Javits Center. More than 1,000 guests from the worlds of finance, fashion, society, and philanthropy enjoyed a private viewing of the entire auto show before it officially opened to the public on April 14. The Gala Preview included cocktails, a private dinner for Benefactors, and a curated display of the latest Jaguar and Land Rover vehicles. Adding to the night’s festivities were specialty cocktails by Tito’s Handmade Vodka and Prosecco DOC, as well as music by DJ Alex Merrell.
The Gala Preview was chaired by Philip L. Yang and Christopher LaSusa, and the Benefit Committee was co-chaired by Samuel P.C. Dangremond, Stuart Orenstein, and Eric Wittenberg.
The highlight of the evening was an exciting live auction of the country’s first 2018 Range Rover Velar, the fourth member of the Range Rover family, bringing a new dimension of modernity and elegance through luxury, refinement and all-terrain capability never before seen in a the mid-size SUV segment. Other exciting live auction packages included a one-year lease of a 2018 Land Rover Discovery, a luxury Aman:USA travel package and a weekend stay at Blackberry Farm in Walland, Tennessee.
The event raised $500,000 to support our college access programs and scholarship for our graduates. The event was made possible through the generosity of the Greater New York Automobile Dealers Association (GNYADA) and the New York International Auto Show, as part of a proud tradition of dedicated community service.
