I was part of the first graduating class of Mott Haven Village Preparatory High School, class of 2006. Mott Haven’s partnership with East Side House offered many opportunities to students like myself during my four years of high school. They supported my transition into College by assisting me with procedures such as FAFSA, and college applications, something I was not familiar with as a first generation college student. With the help from my teachers and East Side House, I was able to get into a small private school, Marist College (Class of 2010).
After I graduated from Marist College I found myself living in the Bronx once again. I decided to pursue a graduate program at John Jay College of Criminal Justice. While attending graduate school as a part-time student, I decided to find a job. I reached out to East Side House Settlement. In 2010, I started working as a part-time Human Resources Assistant. From then I have transitioned from Part-time to Full-time Human Resources Assistant and Human Resources Coordinator. Presently, I am a Human Resources Generalist/Business Partner.
