Community Comes Together to Feed Families in the South Bronx

In collaboration with Farms to Food Banks, we helped to coordinated a delivery of 43,000 pounds of potatoes from farmers in Idaho who are experiencing a surplus as a result of COVID-19 and are distributing it to families in need in the South Bronx. Special thank you to our partners: Zaro’s Family Bakery for donating space and loading dock to receive the shipment, Soar Transportation Group for donated a refrigerated truck,  Dave Lemon, veteran and truck driver who volunteered his time to drive across the country to serve families in need, and RxR Realty for donating storage space. East Side House will continue to work with partners to bring additional food products from farmers across the country to our families in need.
